ARTIST STATEMENT

My artwork, my practice, is a raft. It’s not an illusion of something other than what’s happening right now.  It keeps me moving during this complicated, painful time.  It’s not a fortress, a mote, or a wall, that keeps me safe. Instead, it allows me to process and be a part of what is happening around me and inside of me. It is not sedentary.  It is movement.  This work was made in an effort to draw our attention to our need to listen to one another. To do the hard work together.
